Programme Associate – WASH, Shelter & Settlements

About the role

DG ECHO is seeking a National Staff member to join its Nairobi Regional Office as a Programme Associate focusing on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), shelter and settlements. The role supports the delivery of effective humanitarian response through assessment, monitoring, reporting and partner coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to appraisal, monitoring and evaluation of projects, including financial assessment of proposals.
• Review partners’ reports and field operations, providing comments to the line manager.
• Assist the Head of Office/Technical Assistant in preparing fiche‑ops and other e‑documents for project assessment and monitoring.
• Participate in meetings, draft humanitarian situation reports and circulate relevant information.
• Accompany the Technical Assistant on field visits and act as interpreter when needed.
• Prepare maps and provide back‑stopping or surge support during emergencies.
• Maintain contact with partners, advising on operational capacity and acting as a liaison between HQ thematic units and field partners.

Required profile

• National staff member based in Nairobi, Kenya.
• Ability to work closely with partners and internal teams to coordinate humanitarian activities.
• Willingness to travel for field visits and support emergency responses.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills to produce situation reports and background information.
