Programme Policy Officer – Strategic Coordination & Emergency

About the role

The Programme Policy Officer will support strategic coordination and emergency response across the region, providing data‑driven analysis and facilitating cross‑functional collaboration for the World Food Programme.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse operational data and contextual information to produce evidence‑based recommendations for senior management.
• Assist the Deputy Regional Director in translating inputs from Global Functional Teams into strategic options.
• Coordinate internal and external processes related to regional priorities, preparing briefings and engaging stakeholders.
• Support the Regional Director’s Office and Senior Advisor in linking partnership opportunities to operational realities.
• Back‑stop emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring continuity when team capacity is redirected.
• Track emergency issues, prepare coordination meeting materials, and follow up on decisions.
• Maintain situational awareness of sudden‑ and slow‑onset emergencies and flag critical risks.
• Facilitate information flow between field teams and global headquarters, producing high‑quality analytical products.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 60 months of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear policy options.
• Experience working in humanitarian or emergency response environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills.
