Project Developer - Utility Scale

About the role

PowerGen is seeking a Senior Project Developer to drive the end‑to‑end delivery of utility‑scale solar photovoltaic (PV) and energy‑storage projects in Kenya. Based in Nairobi, you will be responsible for taking projects from early identification through de‑risking, permitting and preparation for construction, ensuring they meet the company’s quality, schedule and budget standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full development cycle of utility‑scale solar PV and storage projects of 50 MW+ capacity.
• Identify and evaluate new project opportunities in line with PowerGen’s strategic goals.
• Conduct de‑risking analyses, secure permits and regulatory approvals.
• Prepare detailed development packages to enable a smooth hand‑over to construction teams.
• Monitor progress against quality, timeline and budget objectives throughout the development phase.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with proven experience in utility‑scale solar PV and storage project development.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects from concept to construction readiness.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan renewable‑energy market regulations and permitting processes.
