Project Director – Fostering the Future Together (FTFT) Kenya

About the role

IREX is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the Fostering the Future Together (FTFT) Kenya initiative. Based in Nairobi, you will oversee a 27‑month, child‑centered program that strengthens online safety, prevents child labor and exploitation, expands education technology access, and builds government capacity to address emerging digital threats.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for design, implementation, and adaptive management of all project components, ensuring integration across education, online safety, child protection, employability, and systems strengthening.
• Lead annual work planning, scheduling, and delivery against agreed milestones and deliverables.
• Identify implementation risks and drive corrective actions to keep the project on track.
• Serve as the primary point of contact with the donor on performance, strategy, and compliance.
• Build and maintain relationships with national and county institutions responsible for child protection, labor standards, education, digital safety, and youth affairs.
• Represent the project in senior government, donor, private‑sector, and technical forums.
• Guide implementation of evidence‑based interventions and ensure safeguarding standards are met.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience leading multi‑sector development projects, preferably in child protection, online safety, or education technology.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, multi‑partner consortia and coordinate with government agencies.
• Strong track record of donor management and compliance reporting.
• Excellent strategic thinking, risk management, and adaptive leadership skills.
