Public Works Inspector

About the role

The City of Corsicana is looking for a Public Works Inspector to ensure that all public works projects comply with engineering plans, specifications, codes and regulations. The inspector will conduct field inspections, document findings and act as a liaison between the city, contractors, engineers and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections of city and public construction projects within the right‑of‑way.
• Verify that contractors adhere to city regulations, codes and project specifications.
• Conduct routine inspections to confirm that designs and specifications are followed.
• Carry out right‑of‑way inspections required for permits.
• Review construction plans and attend project meetings.
• Respond to questions and concerns from the public, contractors and businesses.
• Document inspection results and coordinate with engineers and other stakeholders to maintain quality control.

Required profile

• Qualified individual with experience in public works or construction inspections.
• Knowledge of engineering plans, specifications, building codes and municipal regulations.
• Ability to conduct field inspections and produce accurate documentation.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with contractors, engineers and the public.
