QHSE Operative

About the role

The QHSE Operative will oversee laboratory, quality and food‑safety operations to ensure that raw materials, products and processes consistently meet GMP, GHP and regulatory standards. You will drive continuous improvement, support audits and investigations, and maintain accurate records while promoting a strong safety and environmental culture.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and analyse incoming raw materials and packaging, retaining reference samples.
• Conduct inline product testing to ensure conformity with set parameters.
• Perform personnel and premises checks for GMP and GHP compliance.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization and equipment calibration.
• Coordinate external laboratory testing and record results.
• Support internal and external audits and manage non‑conformance investigations.
• Maintain product retention sample inventory and accurate laboratory records.
• Ensure food‑handler medical records meet local authority requirements.
• Promote safe work practices, train staff on safety requirements and report incidents.
• Implement environmental procedures such as waste disposal, energy conservation and pollution prevention.

Required profile

• Understanding of company procedures, GMP and GHP standards.
• Ability to guide teams in adhering to work instructions.
• Experience with laboratory inspections, sample analysis and equipment calibration.
• Strong record‑keeping and documentation skills.
• Willingness to act as line‑manager substitute when required.
