Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

The Quality Assurance Engineer is a key member of the Quality team responsible for designing, developing, and executing test processes, plans, setups, and cases for Hart InterCivic’s election technology products. This includes voting devices, desktop applications, embedded firmware, databases, and related documentation. The role requires strong analytical skills to collect, organize, and interpret quantitative test data and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze business, certification, and technical requirements and develop test strategies to verify them.
• Create, maintain, and execute detailed test plans and cases, covering functional, integration, regression, security, load, and performance testing.
• Perform investigative testing on customer‑reported and internally identified issues.
• Use QA tools such as Quality Center/ALM or Jira for requirements traceability, test execution, and defect management.
• Prepare formal test reports and documentation for internal teams, customers, and certification authorities.
• Collect and analyze quantitative test data to identify trends, risks, and recommendations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of hands‑on software and/or system Quality Assurance and testing experience.
• Experience reviewing specifications, user manuals, and technical documentation to identify gaps and testability concerns.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of standard QA methodologies, software/firmware development lifecycles, and agile practices.
• Hands‑on manual, system, integration, and regression testing experience.
• Proficiency with relational databases, SQL queries, and data validation.
• Experience using test‑management and defect‑tracking tools such as Quality Center/ALM and Jira.
• Familiarity with automated test tools (e.g., UFT) and scripting languages (Python, C#) for test utilities.
• Ability to analyze quantitative test data and produce statistical findings.
