Quantity Surveyor

About the role

INSTARECT LIMITED is seeking a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join its construction team. You will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing tender documents, and ensuring projects stay within budget while meeting quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Bills of Quantities for security fencing, shade netting, razor wire, mesh, installation, gate fabrication and automation.
• Draft tender documents, including technical specifications and cost schedules.
• Estimate material, labour and equipment costs based on site surveys and design specifications.
• Monitor and control project budgets, expenditures and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Support procurement of materials and subcontractors, and manage contracts, variations, claims and payment schedules.
• Conduct site inspections to verify progress and compliance with specifications.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, project teams and clients on cost‑related issues.
• Identify cost risks, propose value‑engineering solutions and assess financial implications of design changes.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in security/infrastructure fencing or civil works.
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and report‑writing skills.
• Familiarity with Kenyan construction regulations, tender procedures and standards.
