Recycling Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a Recycling Maintenance Supervisor to lead our waste‑sorting and baling team in Nairobi. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency across multiple material streams.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and schedule recycling staff handling mixed waste, plastic, glass, pig feed, and baling operations.
• Plan staff attendance, manage shift rotas and monitor performance metrics.
• Implement and enforce quality‑control and health‑safety standards.
• Optimize sorting processes to minimise downtime and maximise throughput.
• Coordinate forklift usage and maintain equipment logs.
• Maintain accurate records of material volumes, equipment usage and OEE metrics.
• Prepare weekly performance reports and OKR updates.
• Handle petty‑cash requests, inventory levels and logistics coordination for material removal.
• Conduct regular equipment inspections, audits and support new equipment design with engineering.
• Perform data analysis to drive process improvements and explore new recycling opportunities.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience in maintenance teams within a manufacturing or processing environment.
