Regional Consortium Coordinator

About the role

The Regional Consortium Coordinator will lead the DG ECHO Regional Disaster Preparedness Program across Ethiopia, Somalia and Djibouti. Based in Nairobi, the role reports to the Regional Program Development and Quality Director and provides strategic leadership, consortium governance, donor engagement and operational oversight for a 24‑month multi‑country initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of all program components in the three target countries.
• Ensure compliance with DG ECHO requirements, IGAD Anticipatory Action Roadmap, SCALAA methodologies and national disaster‑risk management priorities.
• Oversee financial management, reporting and donor relations for the consortium.
• Facilitate cross‑border trigger matrix development, SOP validation and government‑owned preparedness planning.
• Represent the programme regionally, fostering partnerships with ministries, UN agencies and local NGOs.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in humanitarian programmes, preferably with multi‑country consortia.
• Proven track record managing DG ECHO‑funded projects or similar donor‑driven initiatives.
• Strong understanding of disaster preparedness, anticipatory action and climate‑risk governance in the Greater Horn of Africa.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of regional disaster‑risk management systems and early‑action mechanisms.
• Ability to develop and monitor multi‑sectoral preparedness plans.
