Registered Nurse Internship – Community Health

About the role

This internship places a community health nurse at the core of primary care delivery in Murang'a County, Kenya. You will work directly with patients, families and the wider community to improve health outcomes through assessment, treatment, education and follow‑up, following national health protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Provide clinical services such as Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), routine immunizations, prevention of mother‑to‑child transmission (PMTCT), antenatal care and safe delivery support.
• Deliver health education and counseling to patients, families and community groups.
• Identify cases requiring specialized care and make timely referrals.
• Support facility‑level activities including disease surveillance and maternal health services.

Required profile

• Diploma in Nursing (or equivalent).
• Mandatory nursing experience as defined by local health authorities.
• Registered with the Kenya Nursing Council.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Murang'a County.

Required skills
