Relationship Officer – Pamoja Banking

About the role

The Relationship Officer will drive the growth of Equity Bank Kenya’s Pamoja Banking product by engaging community groups, onboarding them onto the bank’s platform, and managing their loan and savings portfolios. This role combines stakeholder outreach, training, and compliance to ensure sustainable group banking operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct consultative meetings with community leaders and arrange group introductions to the bank.
• Prepare and deliver keynote messages that promote the Pamoja Banking value proposition.
• Identify qualifying groups, support their registration with government offices, and collect KYC documentation.
• Set up group structures, maintain records, and provide training to group officials and members.
• Enforce weekly savings contributions, document transactions, and mobilize deposits.
• Visit borrowers for credit assessments, compile credit proposals, and present them to the Branch Credit Committee.
• Onboard groups and members into the IGLS system, generate reports, and clean up dormant accounts.
• Monitor loan portfolios through post‑disbursement visits, ensure timely repayments, and enforce co‑guarantee mechanisms.
• Recruit new customers and align segment growth with bank objectives.

Required profile

• University degree in Business, Education, Social Sciences or a related diploma.
• Overall C+ in KCSE and C+ in Mathematics.
• 2‑3 years of relevant experience in banking, community outreach, or group lending.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the IGLS banking system.
