Retail Pharmaceutical Technologist

About the role

The Retail Pharmaceutical Technologist will work in a busy pharmacy environment, ensuring safe and accurate dispensing of medicines while providing essential health advice to customers. This role combines technical pharmacy tasks with customer service to support the health needs of the community.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense prescribed and over‑the‑counter medicines accurately and safely.
• Validate medical prescriptions for appropriateness and legality.
• Advise customers on dosage, precautions and possible side effects.
• Manage delivery, stocking, labelling and storage of pharmaceutical products to prevent expiry.
• Maintain proper storage conditions, including cold‑chain requirements.
• Provide auxiliary services such as blood pressure, blood sugar and BMI measurements.
• Keep accurate records of patient histories, controlled medications and supplier invoices.
• Ensure physical stock matches system inventory and report discrepancies.
• Oversee online order fulfilment and maintain high customer‑satisfaction standards.
• Stay updated on pharmaceutical advancements through continuous learning.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience (approximately 5 years) in a pharmacy or pharmaceutical retail setting.
• Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and maintain detailed records.
