SACCO Accountant

About the role

Ufanisi DT SACCO Society Ltd is seeking a self‑driven Accountant to provide strategic leadership in managing the co‑operative’s finances. The role involves safeguarding financial resources, shaping policies, and ensuring robust financial procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the CEO to develop and maintain a comprehensive financial policy framework.
• Prepare manual budgets, forecasts, and departmental plans aligned with SACCO objectives.
• Maintain legal and tax records while supporting departmental planning.
• Guide senior management and department heads in budgeting and financial evaluation.
• Review and update finance manuals and policy documents for compliance.
• Advise on loan policies and provide corporate financial advice to the board and committees.
• Produce accurate financial and management accounting reports for decision‑making.
• Maintain effective relationships with banks, statutory bodies, and key clients.
• Oversee cash flow, treasury management, and internal control systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sacco Management or related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA K, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) and membership of a professional body.
• Minimum five years of accounting experience, including at least two years in a supervisory role.
• Three referees, certificate of good conduct, tax compliance and CRB certificates.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Sacco software systems.
