School Librarian & Knowledge Manager

About the role

The school librarian will act as a knowledge manager and educator, guiding learners, teachers and the wider community to access, evaluate and use information effectively. This role supports the curriculum, promotes reading for pleasure and contributes to lifelong learning within the school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a collection of print, on‑print and digital resources aligned with the curriculum and student needs.
• Manage selection, acquisition, cataloguing, classification, covering and stamping of books, ensuring timely availability.
• Maintain both online and manual catalogues, as well as an automated circulation system.
• Create and implement library policies in line with the school’s educational aims.
• Monitor service effectiveness, generate reports and adjust services based on findings.
• Lead library induction sessions for students and promote effective use of resources.
• Organise displays, supervise after‑school study sessions and coordinate library functions.
• Stay updated on developments in information management, education and children’s literature.

Required profile

• Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time‑management abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with teenagers.
• Problem‑solving aptitude and decision‑making capability.
• High ethical standards, reliability and self‑motivation.
• Diploma or degree in Library and Information Studies or equivalent.
• Recent police clearance certificate.
