Security Assistant

About the role

The Security Assistant will support the safety and security of Acorn Holdings Africa’s residential properties in Westlands, Nairobi. The role involves interacting with residents, staff and visitors, conducting regular patrols, and responding to emergencies. Flexible working hours, including nights and weekends, are required to maintain a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a friendly and helpful presence to students, staff and visitors.
• Assist residents with security‑related inquiries and concerns.
• Conduct foot patrols within the residence to ensure a safe environment.
• Participate in fire drills and act as a first responder during emergencies.
• Identify maintenance issues and escalate them to the appropriate department.
• Manage gate passes and visitor management system, authorising entries and exits.
• Enforce residence security protocols and policies.
• Attend security briefs, meetings and trainings.
• Collaborate with the security team to address concerns and improve safety measures.
• Report suspicious activities or breaches to the Security Team Leader.
• Maintain accurate logs and records of incidents and follow‑up actions.

Required profile

• High school certificate or equivalent.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
• Detail‑oriented with strong observational skills.
• Basic knowledge of security systems and procedures.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
• Minimum 1‑2 years experience in the security industry.
