Senior Accountant (India Focus)

About the role

The company is seeking a Senior Accountant with strong expertise in Indian accounting practices to lead its finance function in Nairobi. You will be responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and Kenyan tax regulations, and supporting business decisions across its cleaning, residential, commercial, and pest‑control services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, KRA tax regulations and internal policies; coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, bank reconciliations and month‑end close.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasting, budgeting, cost control and variance analysis.
• Maintain and optimise accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, Pastel, SAP, Oracle, Xero, ERP) and train junior staff.
• Support pricing, costing and profitability analysis for all service lines.
• Develop and enforce internal controls, safeguard assets and prevent fraud.

Required profile

• ACCA qualified or finalist; CPA(K) is an advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Minimum 4‑5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years at senior level.
• Proven experience in a service‑based company and strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and KRA systems.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks, Sage, Tally, Pastel, SAP, Oracle, Xero and ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel and payroll system proficiency.
• Technical knowledge of IFRS, VAT, PAYE, budgeting, costing and reconciliations.
