Senior Associate II – Litigation & Dispute Resolution

About the role

The client is a leading law firm in Kenya seeking a Senior Associate II to lead complex litigation and dispute resolution matters. The successful candidate will provide strategic advice, represent clients in courts and tribunals, and drive business development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and deliver high-quality legal advice on complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters.
• Support partners and principal associates in handling client matters, exercising independent judgment and escalating issues when needed.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding needs and providing practical solutions.
• Lead, supervise, mentor and coach junior associates, pupils and other team members, delegating work and reviewing outputs.
• Represent clients before courts, tribunals, arbitral panels and other forums, crafting effective dispute strategies.
• Identify new business opportunities, contribute to client pitches and help achieve departmental revenue targets.
• Monitor timelines, budgets, billing and accounts receivable for assigned matters.
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, professional standards and risk-management procedures.

Required profile

• LLB degree from a recognised university and admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, with the ability to manage complex legal matters independently.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience, including mentoring junior staff.
• Excellent legal drafting, advocacy and client relationship-management skills.
