Senior Backend Engineer – Remote Contract

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join a global technology leader on a contract basis. This fully remote position focuses on designing, building, and maintaining high‑performance backend systems that power critical, high‑traffic applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise backend services using modern languages and frameworks.
• Implement and maintain RESTful or GraphQL APIs, databases, and micro‑services architecture.
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, bugs, and system failures.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑documented code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience with backend development.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.

Required skills

• Python, Java, or Go programming.
• RESTful APIs, GraphQL.
• SQL and NoSQL database design.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
