Senior Construction HSE Advisor

About the role

The Senior Construction HSE Advisor will lead health, safety and environmental management for the Jabali Towers and Porini Point mixed‑use high‑rise projects within Tatu City. Based on‑site, the role is responsible for creating and enforcing a world‑class HSE management system that drives a zero‑harm culture across all contractors and workers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the Project‑Specific HSE Plan in line with company policy, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and Kenyan legal requirements, including risk assessments, permit‑to‑work and emergency response procedures.
• Lead a team of HSE officers, conduct regular site inspections and audits, and control high‑risk activities such as work at height, lifting, confined‑space entry, excavation and electrical work.
• Oversee on‑site environmental management, ensuring waste control, pollution prevention and noise mitigation in compliance with NEMA regulations.
• Design and deliver HSE induction, toolbox talks and targeted training, fostering a proactive safety culture and accountability at all levels.
• Maintain full compliance with Kenyan OSH and environmental legislation, prepare performance reports and act as the primary liaison with regulators such as NEMA and DOSHS.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• NEBOSH International Diploma (or equivalent) and membership in a recognised professional body (e.g., CMIOSH, Grad IOSH) is highly advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years progressive HSE management experience in construction, including at least 5 years in a senior site‑based role on large‑scale, high‑rise or mixed‑use developments.
• Proven experience implementing and auditing integrated HSE management systems compliant with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan OSH and environmental legislation and ability to engage contractors, consultants and workers effectively.
