About the role

The Senior Ecosystem & Inclusion Researcher will lead a comprehensive digital‑economy mapping study focused on youth‑ and women‑led tech enterprises across Kenya. The role involves designing and executing mixed‑methods research to uncover growth opportunities and structural barriers within the country’s startup ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth empirical assessments of growth opportunities for tech enterprises.
• Identify structural barriers faced by youth‑ and women‑led companies.
• Develop and manage extensive field networks with regional innovation hubs, entrepreneur associations, and tech communities.
• Produce quantitative and qualitative data analyses to inform strategic recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams to integrate research findings into broader digital‑economy initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Development Studies, Statistics, Gender Studies, Economics, Social Sciences or a related field.
• 7–10 years of experience executing mixed‑methods research within East Africa’s startup or MSME ecosystems.
• Proven track record of delivering high‑quality research reports for the digital‑economy sector.
