Senior Investment Associate

About the role

PowerGen is seeking a Senior Investment Associate to lead the origination, structuring and execution of renewable energy and infrastructure investments across Africa. The role combines deep project finance expertise with hands‑on project management to drive multi‑country transactions from concept to close.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, screen and prioritize new project and platform investment opportunities in target markets.
• Lead commercial and financial structuring of transactions, including equity, mezzanine and debt instruments.
• Design and refine project structures such as SPVs, concession models and PPP arrangements to satisfy investor, lender and regulator requirements.
• Assess bankability risks, propose mitigation strategies and enhance project risk‑return profiles.
• Develop and maintain complex project finance and corporate financial models, perform scenario and sensitivity analysis.
• Prepare valuation analyses (DCF, comparable transactions, benchmarking) and recommend pricing and terms.
• Support fundraising activities and coordinate multi‑stakeholder, multi‑country workstreams.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of relevant experience in project development, investment or project finance within the power or infrastructure sector.
• Proven track record of leading or co‑leading transactions to successful close.
• Hands‑on experience managing multi‑stakeholder, multi‑country workstreams.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail in financial analysis and risk assessment.
