Senior Network Innovation Engineer

About the role

TasNetworks is seeking a Senior Network Innovation Engineer to lead the creation and delivery of cutting‑edge solutions that support Tasmania’s transition to a smarter, more sustainable electricity system. You will work across technical, commercial and strategic areas, shaping the future capabilities of the Distribution System Operator (DSO) while integrating emerging energy technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, assess, develop and deliver innovative network initiatives aligned with TasNetworks’ strategic objectives.
• Lead complex projects from concept through to business‑as‑usual operations.
• Support the integration of smart‑grid, Customer Energy Resources (CER) and other emerging technologies into the distribution network.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define future DSO capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, engineering standards and industry guidelines.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years’ experience in electricity utilities or a comparable industry.
• Proven ability to lead complex, multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and alignment with TasNetworks’ values.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
