Senior Programme Manager – REGEN-Africa (Interim)

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Programme Manager to provide interim leadership for REGEN-Africa, a multi-country initiative that mobilises finance for regenerative agriculture and sustainable forestry across seven African markets. The assignment runs from September 2026 to April 2027 and requires rapid ownership of a complex programme during a critical capital-mobilisation phase.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic and operational leadership of the REGEN-Africa programme.
• Manage an integrated programme plan across multiple workstreams, including finance, technical advisory, and stakeholder engagement.
• Shape and refine programme strategy as opportunities evolve.
• Coordinate proposal development, legal structuring, and investment-facility design.
• Lead fundraising, capital mobilisation, and investor engagement to progress the pipeline toward first close.
• Oversee engagement with banks, NBFIs and other financial institutions.
• Maintain senior relationships with governments, regulators, development partners, donors and investors.
• Identify and mitigate programme risks, dependencies and delivery challenges.
• Ensure quality assurance of technical outputs and a smooth hand‑over at the start and end of the assignment.

Required profile

• 8–10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong background in climate finance, sustainable or blended finance, and financial sector development.
• Demonstrated experience working across African markets.
• Proven track record leading complex, multi-country, multi-stakeholder programmes.
• Experience coordinating multiple teams, advisers and concurrent workstreams.
• Deep understanding of blended-finance mechanisms, catalytic capital and investment-facility design.
• Knowledge of banks, NBFIs and donor or multilateral climate/development finance proposals.
