Senior Programme Officer – Climate Justice

About the role

The Senior Programme Officer – Climate Justice will lead the implementation of ACT Alliance’s Accelerating Adaptation Action Through Faith‑Led Advocacy in Africa project. Reporting to the Global Climate Justice Programme Manager, the role combines project management, advocacy coordination and capacity‑building across regional and national ACT structures.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee project delivery, monitoring, reporting and budget management for the Accelerating Adaptation Action project.
• Coordinate ACT national and regional forums on climate‑related topics and support Communities of Practice.
• Provide technical guidance, conduct research and produce policy briefs, position papers and other knowledge products.
• Engage with UN processes, especially the UNFCCC, and represent ACT Alliance in relevant international fora.
• Facilitate capacity‑building initiatives for ACT members and partners on climate justice and adaptation.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in project coordination, advocacy or campaign work within an international network.
• Strong understanding of UN multilateral processes, particularly the UNFCCC, and climate‑adaptation, loss and damage, resilience and finance.
• Advanced degree in climate change, environment studies, development studies, international relations or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural, multi‑locational settings and build trust among diverse groups.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French is an asset.
