Solar Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Solar Design Engineer to lead the design of photovoltaic (PV) and hybrid solar projects across Kenya. The role combines technical design, performance analysis, and close collaboration with sales, procurement, and installation teams to deliver cost‑effective renewable energy solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments, including solar irradiance, shading, structural and electrical evaluations.
• Design efficient solar PV systems using industry‑standard simulation tools.
• Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals aligned with client requirements.
• Create engineering drawings, layouts, single‑line diagrams, and system documentation.
• Perform energy yield calculations, system performance analysis, and financial optimization.
• Design Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and hybrid solar solutions.
• Support sales, procurement, project management, and installation teams throughout project execution.
• Provide technical assistance during design, installation, commissioning, and post‑installation phases.
• Ensure compliance with EPRA regulations, Kenyan standards, and international engineering best practices.
• Participate in client meetings, technical presentations, and site inspections.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in solar PV system design and engineering.
• Valid EPRA T3 License (mandatory); registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya is a plus.
• Valid driving licence (advantageous).
• Strong analytical, communication, and project coordination abilities.
• Willingness to travel to project sites nationwide.
