Steward – Kitchen & Dishwashing Support

About the role

The Steward will ensure the kitchen and dishwashing areas remain clean, hygienic, and ready for service. Working closely with chefs and kitchen staff, you will support daily operations by maintaining sanitation standards and handling waste responsibly.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen, dishwashing, and storage areas.
• Operate dishwashing machines and hand‑wash items to ensure they are spotless and ready for reuse.
• Sort and dispose of waste, recyclables, and food scraps according to hygiene policies.
• Assist chefs by providing clean tools, restocking utensils, crockery, and supplies.
• Receive, unpack, and store kitchen deliveries, applying FIFO stock rotation.
• Adhere to safety and hygiene regulations, wearing appropriate PPE.
• Support the team during peak service times, clearing dishes and cleaning spills quickly.
• Maintain cleanliness in staff areas, restrooms, and guest‑facing spaces as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years experience in a steward or kitchen‑assistant role.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and follow cleaning schedules.
• Strong attention to hygiene and safety standards.

Required skills

• Operation of commercial dishwashing machines.
• Proper waste segregation and disposal.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, aprons, and non‑slip shoes.
