Strategic Partner

About the role

The African Diary is seeking a Strategic Partner to drive collaboration with organisations that share its mission of documenting Africa’s evolving story. Based in Nairobi’s Westlands district, this full‑time position will work on‑site to identify, negotiate and manage high‑impact partnerships across corporate, nonprofit, media and policy sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement partnership strategies that align with The African Diary’s editorial and commercial goals.
• Conduct business planning and analysis to evaluate partnership opportunities and build viable collaboration models.
• Maintain and nurture relationships with existing partners, ensuring satisfaction and ongoing engagement.
• Coordinate joint initiatives, co‑branded projects and long‑term collaborations with editorial, production and operations teams.
• Monitor partnership performance, prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership.
• Identify new business development prospects to expand the organisation’s reach and impact.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategic partnerships and business development.
• Background in consulting or business planning with strong analytical capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage accounts and sustain multi‑stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Project‑management experience, including planning, prioritisation and delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, International Relations or related field; advanced qualifications a plus.
• Familiarity with African media, storytelling or impact‑focused organisations and a keen interest in the continent’s socio‑economic landscape.
