Supermarket Stock Controller

About the role

The Supermarket Stock Controller ensures accurate inventory management across all departments of the store, preventing stockouts and excess stock. You will work closely with procurement, sales, and cashier teams to maintain optimal stock levels and support loss‑prevention initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, compile and analyse daily sales and stock data to spot trends, shortages and overstock situations.
• Monitor inventory levels and trigger timely replenishment to avoid stockouts.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts, reconcile with system records and investigate variances.
• Update inventory data promptly, including receipts, transfers and adjustments.
• Coordinate with procurement to place orders based on demand patterns and reorder levels.
• Verify goods received from suppliers for quantity and quality, ensuring proper documentation.
• Maintain proper storage, enforce FIFO/FEFO rotation and prevent damage or loss.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly inventory and variance reports.
• Support pricing changes, promotions and discounts by updating system and shelf labels.
• Train store staff on stock handling and inventory procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in inventory control or stock management, preferably in a retail or supermarket environment.
