Supply Technician – Expeditionary Maintenance Division

About the role

The Supply Technician supports the Expeditionary Maintenance Division of the Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center. Working on-site in Gulfport, MS (or Port Hueneme, CA), you will manage material procurement, inventory tracking, and disposition of excess supplies for heavy‑equipment repair programs.

Key responsibilities

• Review material lists from inspectors and shop personnel to determine repair costs.
• Maintain databases that track inventory, part numbers, National Item Identification Numbers (NIIN), and vendor/manufacturer codes.
• Process procurement records, including receipts, invoices, shipping, and receiving documentation for audit purposes.
• Record acceptance, rejection, or cancellation details for material procurement.
• Assist in disposition of unused material, coordinating turn‑in to the supply system or the Defense Property Disposal Office.

Required profile

• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑05/GS‑06 level in federal service or comparable private‑sector experience.
• Experience submitting purchase requisitions and using a government purchase credit card.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers regarding procurement packages.
• Eligibility for VEOA/VRA or current federal competitive status as applicable.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to quickly learn additional computer programs and procurement software.
• Database management for inventory and part tracking.
• Use of government purchase credit card for acquisitions.
• Knowledge of inventory control, vendor management, and NIIN documentation.
