Technical Consultant – Regional Working Group Secretariat (ESA)

About the role

The consultancy supports the Regional Working Group (RWG) Secretariat for Immunization in East and Southern Africa during UNICEF’s chairing period (2026). The consultant will ensure continuous functionality of the secretariat, providing technical coordination, monitoring, knowledge management and partner engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full and continuous operation of the RWG Secretariat for Immunization across 25 ESA countries.
• Provide technical coordination, monitoring and knowledge‑management support for Gavi 6.0 holistic application, VPOP process and NIS development/re‑programming.
• Harmonise technical assistance, monitor country‑level processes and strengthen five technical working groups.
• Ensure timely follow‑up on RWG recommendations and produce high‑quality technical documents and reports.
• Collaborate closely with UNICEF, WHO, Gavi and regional partners as a core member of the RWG Secretariat and the Monitoring and Evaluation TWG.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Public Health, Global/International Health, Health Policy and Management or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience at national and international levels in primary health care.
• Substantive experience and technical knowledge in immunisation.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating health and immunisation programmes or strategies.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proven capacity to produce high‑quality technical documents and reports.
• Experience with UN agencies is an asset.
