Teller - Money Transfer, Forex & Remittance

About the role

The Retail Sales & Service Officer (Teller) will work at the branch front‑line, handling foreign exchange, money remittance and cash transactions. The role demands strict compliance with regulatory standards, accurate processing of transactions and high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Buy and sell foreign currencies, register clients and issue receipts using the Fabit system.
• Collect and verify identification documents (National ID or passport) for new customers.
• Prepare declaration forms for transactions exceeding KES 1,000,000 and obtain supporting evidence.
• Escalate Politically Exposed Person (PEP) cases to the compliance/MLRO before processing.
• Assist customers with Western Union, MoneyGram and FX transfers, ensuring full KYC documentation.
• Process M‑Pesa transactions and verify M‑Pesa KYC.
• Balance cash drawers, reconcile daily currency and coin, and generate end‑of‑shift reports.

Required profile

• Minimum O‑level education.
• 1‑2 years experience as a teller in a forex bureau, SACCO or mobile banking (M‑Pesa).
• Experience in operations, cash handling, banking, remittance or payments.
• Preferred supervisory or senior teller experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Fabit transaction system.
• Familiarity with the M‑Pesa platform.
