Tutorial Fellow - Film and Animation

About the role

We are seeking a Tutorial Fellow to join the Film and Animation department at Zetech University in Nairobi. The role combines teaching, curriculum development and research, allowing you to shape the learning experience of students while advancing the department’s scholarly profile.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, seminars and practical workshops across the film and animation curriculum as assigned by the Head of Department.
• Design and develop new programmes of study, building course structures for emerging subject areas at various degree levels.
• Regularly review and update course content, teaching materials and assessment methods to ensure academic quality and industry relevance.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum changes, pedagogy improvements and research‑led teaching initiatives.
• Conduct original research, publish findings in scholarly outlets and prepare competitive grant proposals.
• Present research at national and international conferences and disseminate outputs through academic and professional channels.
• Engage in consultancy projects linking departmental expertise with external organisations and the creative industries.
• Provide mentorship, supervision and career guidance to students and early‑career staff.

Required profile

• Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent doctoral degree in Film and Animation, or current registration towards completion.
• Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Film and Animation from an accredited university.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching at the tertiary level and a record of scholarly research.
• Ability to develop curricula and assess student performance.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of film production and animation techniques.
