Vehicle Condition Inspector

About the role

ACV Auctions is seeking an enthusiastic Vehicle Condition Inspector who loves cars and enjoys explaining vehicle details to clients. You will be the face of the company, ensuring customers receive accurate, transparent information about vehicle condition.

Key responsibilities

• Support initiatives that simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Partner with Territory Managers and other inspectors to conduct inspections at dealerships, auctions, and off‑lease locations.
• Detect damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues, then prepare detailed condition reports with repair cost estimates.
• Assist the sales team in up‑selling or cross‑selling services and products.
• Maintain regular communication with dealers to ensure satisfaction and build strong relationships.
• Travel to various sites, take comprehensive photos, and upload them via company‑issued smartphone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
• Onboard independent dealerships as buyers to use the digital platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, or mechanical repair) with a customer‑service background.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform manual labor (standing, lifting 25 lb+, bending, squatting).
• Problem‑solving mindset with resourceful and innovative approaches.
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating in a team.
• Excellent communication skills to understand customer needs.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a registered, insured vehicle.
• Vision acuity sufficient to identify small defects on and under vehicles.

Required skills

• Automobile inspection knowledge (body, paint, mechanical).
• Customer‑service experience.
• Use of smartphone for image capture and upload.
• Familiarity with web‑based applications and reporting software.
• Ability to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
