YouTube Script Writer – Documentary Style

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time YouTube Script Writer who can transform raw footage, transcripts and research into engaging, long‑form documentary‑style video scripts. The channel showcases ambitious DIY builds, engineering projects and creative conversions, requiring a storyteller who can keep viewers hooked from start to finish.

Key responsibilities

• Review raw footage, creator videos, transcripts and supporting material to fully understand each project.
• Write engaging narration scripts that closely follow and complement the visuals.
• Turn step‑by‑step construction footage into a coherent story with clear progression.
• Explain tools, materials, techniques and engineering decisions in simple, interesting language.
• Add contextual information beyond what is shown on screen.
• Conduct additional research to verify technical terminology and factual accuracy.
• Synchronise narration with timestamps and ensure dialogue fits the available screen time.
• Proofread scripts for grammar, punctuation, continuity and natural spoken flow.
• Incorporate feedback from the production team and refine scripts until ready for narration.

Required profile

• Entry‑level or junior candidate with up to three years of relevant experience.
• Strong instinct for storytelling and ability to build compelling narratives.
• Excellent command of natural, polished British English.
• Attention to detail and ability to research technical information accurately.
