Applied AI Engineer

About the role

The Applied AI Engineer (AAE) ensures that artificial intelligence solutions function effectively in the real‑world environments where they are deployed. Working within the International Rescue Committee’s programs in Kenya, you will translate AI research into practical tools that support humanitarian operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build AI workflows, including structured agents and decision‑making flows.
• Deploy, adapt, test, and validate AI models in program settings to guarantee accuracy and usability.
• Collaborate with program teams to integrate AI solutions into existing processes.
• Monitor system performance and iterate on models to maintain effectiveness.
• Document deployment procedures and provide training to end‑users.
