Applied Mathematics Benchmark Specialist

About the role

We are looking for expert mathematicians to create and validate high‑quality multiple‑choice assessment items for an AI research benchmark. The work is fully remote, asynchronous, and requires a commitment of at least 10 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Author original, challenging multiple‑choice questions in your area of mathematical expertise.
• Rate each question’s difficulty (Medium, Hard, Expert) and provide one correct answer plus nine plausible distractors.
• Write step‑by‑step chain‑of‑thought solutions in markdown and cite 1–5 academic references.
• Review pre‑written questions for accuracy, clarity, and rigor, flagging any issues and documenting edits.
• Ensure all necessary information is contained within the problem statement and that questions are unambiguous.

Required profile

• PhD or doctoral candidate in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field (Master’s acceptable with exceptional depth).
• Strong command of graduate‑level mathematical concepts and formal proof writing.
• Experience designing rigorous academic problems or competition‑style questions.
• Excellent written English with the ability to express complex ideas clearly.
