Assistant Accountant (Real Estate & Leasing)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support our real‑estate and leasing portfolio. The role involves managing tenant accounts, processing financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with Kenyan tax and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage tenant accounts, billing rent, service charges and other property‑related fees.
• Prepare tenant statements and follow up on outstanding balances to reduce arrears.
• Support rent collection and debt recovery processes.
• Maintain accurate lease records, including commencements, renewals, rent reviews and expiries.
• Reconcile tenant deposits, rental income, occupancy reports and related financial data.
• Process receipts, payments, invoices, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budgeting, forecasting and statutory compliance.
• Maintain accounting records and support internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• CPA Part II or higher (mandatory).
• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in real‑estate, property management or leasing.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance.
• Understanding of leasing processes, tenant account management and credit control.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
