Assistant Dispatch Manager

About the role

The Assistant Dispatch Manager supports the Lead Warehouse & Outbound Logistics in overseeing all outbound activities at the distribution centre. The role ensures that goods are loaded, weighed and dispatched safely, on time and in full, while coordinating with warehouse, transport and weighbridge teams.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise loading operations, guaranteeing correct, safe and efficient truck loading following FIFO, batch and damage‑prevention standards.
• Coordinate with the Weighbridge Supervisor to ensure accurate weighing of every truck and resolve any discrepancies.
• Work with the Deputy Lead Transport to schedule trucks, manage transporter issues and optimise fleet utilisation.
• Plan daily loading schedules, vehicle allocations and delivery sequencing to meet OTIF targets.
• Ensure compliance with company SOPs, safety regulations and conduct regular safety checks on loading activities.
• Generate daily dispatch reports, loading summaries and KPI dashboards for management review.
• Lead and coach loading and weighbridge staff, monitoring performance and enforcing SOPs.
• Identify and implement process‑improvement initiatives to increase loading efficiency and reduce dwell time.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or Operations Management.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in FMCG warehouse dispatch or a similar outbound logistics environment.
• Proven ability to manage teams, coordinate cross‑functional activities and meet tight delivery windows.
• Strong understanding of FIFO, batch handling and safety standards in a warehouse setting.

Required skills

• Knowledge of outbound logistics processes and dispatch coordination.
• Familiarity with weighbridge operations and truck loading procedures.
• Ability to use basic office software for reporting (e.g., Excel).
