Assistant IT Manager

About the role

Optica Limited is seeking an Assistant IT Manager to support its IT Manager in maintaining and advancing the company’s technology infrastructure. You will help ensure smooth daily operations, safeguard data, and contribute to strategic IT initiatives within Kenya’s leading optician retailer.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing, and managing hardware, software, and network systems.
• Support daily IT operations, minimizing downtime and ensuring service continuity.
• Monitor system performance and perform proactive troubleshooting.
• Handle IT support requests and resolve technical issues promptly.
• Contribute to cybersecurity measures, including firewall maintenance, antivirus updates, and data protection.
• Maintain up‑to‑date IT documentation such as network diagrams and software licenses.
• Assist with vendor management, budgeting, and procurement of IT assets.
• Deliver training sessions on IT best practices and security protocols.
• Stay informed on emerging technologies and recommend efficiency improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of networking, operating systems, and database management.
• Experience with cloud services, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication and leadership skills, able to work independently and in a team.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, CCNA, ITIL, Microsoft Certified) are a plus.
