Associate Director, Regional Programs

About the role

The Associate Director, Regional Programs will provide leadership and managerial oversight for the Africa Health Collaborative’s partner‑led initiatives across multiple African countries and Canada. Reporting to the Senior Director, International Relations (Africa) and the Head of the AHC Secretariat, this senior role shapes program delivery, governance and stakeholder coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of AHC’s priority focus areas and administrative requirements.
• Lead projects from discovery through implementation, defining requirements, scope, schedules, budgets, risk mitigation strategies, workplans and success measures.
• Liaise with program teams across all AHC member universities to coordinate internal and external resources and keep projects within approved parameters.
• Monitor and analyze project status, identify risks and service‑delivery concerns, and revise plans as needed to meet objectives.
• Develop project tools, templates, databases and technology‑enabled solutions that improve operational efficiency and administrative effectiveness.
• Oversee committees and governance structures supporting graduate programs, certificates, micro‑credentials, entrepreneurship activities and fellowship programmes.
• Lead a distributed team through an Employer of Record to ensure donor‑compliant delivery of more than 400 partner‑led programs.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in managing multi‑stakeholder, multi‑country health or education programmes.
• Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to influence senior academic, governmental and donor partners.
• Excellent analytical and risk‑management capabilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across diverse institutions and cultures.
