Automotive Painter for US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking an experienced Automotive Painter to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves preparing and coating contract‑unit vehicles to meet strict military specifications while operating in an austere overseas environment.

Key responsibilities

• Apply primer, paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other coatings using brushes, rollers, spray guns and related equipment.
• Remove existing paint with liquid removers, scrapers, or sand/ bead blasting techniques.
• Prepare surfaces by sanding, steel‑wool polishing, and acid‑etching aluminum to ensure proper adhesion and corrosion control.
• Mask and cover areas not to be painted and apply insignia, letters or numerals using stencils.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the painting and maintenance workflow.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum three years recent experience in maintenance, water blasting, sand blasting, overhaul and painting/de‑painting of contract‑unit equipment.
• Normal color vision and ability to pass physical fitness and respirator fit tests.
• Valid passport (minimum one‑year validity) and ability to travel internationally.
• Capability to meet contract medical requirements and obtain/maintain facility credentials.
