Biomedical Engineer

About the role

The Biomedical Engineer will ensure the optimal performance of critical medical equipment across the hospital, supporting high‑quality patient care and efficient operations. The role combines preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment lifecycle management, compliance monitoring and vendor coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and supervise the installation, testing, commissioning and acceptance of all biomedical equipment.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules and carry out timely repairs to minimise downtime.
• Perform electrical safety testing, calibration, validation and safety testing of medical devices.
• Support critical care and operating‑theatre equipment such as ventilators, monitors, defibrillators, anesthesia machines and infusion pumps.
• Coordinate maintenance for imaging systems (X‑ray, CT, ultrasound, MRI, C‑arm) and laboratory analyzers.
• Ensure compliance with hospital safety standards, electrical regulations and accreditation requirements (JCI, NABH, ISO).
• Manage vendor relationships, service contracts and AMC agreements, and maintain accurate asset inventories in CMMS/biomedical software.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering.
• 5–8 years of experience in hospital biomedical engineering.
• 2–3 years in a supervisory or senior role (preferred).
• Relevant certifications such as Biomedical Equipment Technician/Engineer, Electrical Safety, ISO/Internal Auditor, OEM technical training and Medical Gas Pipeline System training.
