Business Development Manager – Coating & Construction

About the role

Our client, a leading distributor and service provider of chemical and food ingredients, is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive technical support and sales for the Coating & Construction commercial segment in Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Achieve set sales targets and forecasts.
• Identify opportunities for campaigns, fairs, services and new distribution channels.
• Provide daily/weekly sales and activity reporting.
• Schedule, conduct and report on technical visits to customers.
• Update market information and product/customer database monthly.
• Identify and track relevant construction projects.
• Develop and maintain key customer relationships, including payment follow‑up.
• Manage key suppliers, support exclusive supplier business and product development.
• Train and provide technical support to the sales team.
• Maintain market intelligence on competitors and new business opportunities.
• Participate in setting product pricing solutions.
• Coordinate with stores manager on warehouse, distribution and safety management.
• Attend industry events and uphold good housekeeping and health‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of experience in the relevant industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry or a related field.
• Strong commercial acumen and sales savvy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize projects and work under pressure.
• Good analytical, negotiation and team‑leadership abilities.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel and work overtime.

Required skills

• SAP knowledge (advantage).
