Business Development Manager

About the role

Plan International Kenya is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead resource mobilisation, grant acquisition and funding partnerships that will drive the implementation of its 2027‑2032 country strategy. This role is pivotal in securing diversified, high‑quality funding and building impactful collaborations to advance the organisation’s mission of ending teenage pregnancies and gender‑based violence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the 2027‑2032 Resource Mobilisation Strategy aligned with the country’s strategic goals.
• Identify and pursue funding opportunities across traditional donor, commercial contracting, blended finance and impact investment streams.
• Lead donor and partner engagement, consortium building and proposal development.
• Design programmes and proposals that meet donor requirements and demonstrate value‑for‑money.
• Strengthen country‑wide business development processes and capabilities.
• Represent Plan International Kenya in coordination forums and contribute to senior leadership discussions.
• Ensure compliance and accountability through internal reporting mechanisms.

Required profile

• Proven experience in resource mobilisation, grant acquisition and partnership development within the development or humanitarian sector.
• Strong strategic thinking with ability to navigate a competitive funding landscape.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, especially with donors and multi‑partner consortia.
• Track record of designing and delivering successful funding proposals.
• Commitment to gender equality and child rights.
