Commercial Operations Manager – Events & Conferences

About the role

The Commercial Operations Manager – Events & Conferences will lead the launch and growth of a new resort and conference destination in Naivasha. Reporting to senior management, the role combines business development, sales, and hands‑on operational oversight to maximise revenue and guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect, engage and secure bookings from corporate clients, NGOs, government bodies, event planners and tour operators.
• Host site inspections, lead contract negotiations and act as the primary commercial closer for group accounts.
• Collaborate with Marketing to design and price conference, team‑building and staycation packages.
• Oversee front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, conferencing, events and facility operations during events to ensure service standards are exceeded.
• Lead pre‑event briefings with kitchen, service and technical teams and manage on‑site guest feedback.
• Implement a flexible, volume‑driven staffing model using cross‑trained core staff and casual labour.
• Maintain daily schedules focused on outbound client outreach, networking and preventative maintenance during low‑occupancy periods.

Required profile

• Energetic, commercially driven and hands‑on professional with an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Proven experience in hospitality or resort operations, preferably with events and conferences.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with corporate and institutional clients.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
