Communications Intern – CITES MIKE Programme

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Communications Intern to support the CITES MIKE Programme in Nairobi. Working under the CITES MIKE Programme Management Officer, the intern will help create and disseminate communications and multimedia content that raises awareness of wildlife conservation efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Draft content for social media posts highlighting CITES MIKE activities and broader wildlife conservation topics.
• Produce and release multimedia materials such as photos, videos, and infographics for various CITES communication channels.
• Assist in planning and implementing communications campaigns and outreach activities.
• Support capacity‑building initiatives and programme‑management tasks related to the MIKE Programme.
• Contribute to the organisation of workshops, meetings and other stakeholder‑engagement events.

Required profile

• Strong interest in wildlife conservation and environmental issues.
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging messages.
• Ability to work under supervision in a multicultural, international environment.
