Communications Officer

About the role

Safal Group is seeking a Communications Officer to lead the development and execution of its communication strategy for the Foundation. Based in Nairobi’s Westlands district, the role will work closely with the Foundation Head to craft compelling narratives that engage partners, beneficiaries, and donors across multiple channels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for the Foundation.
• Create annual reports, presentations, promotional materials, and impact stories.
• Support donor recognition and stewardship programs for corporate and individual contributors.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute events, managing logistics and vendor relationships.
• Manage regional social‑media content calendars, posts, and audience engagement.
• Conduct competitive research, platform benchmarking, and audience analysis to identify critical communication channels.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field (master’s degree or professional certification is a plus).
• Proven experience in corporate communications, public relations or media relations with a track record of successful campaigns.
• Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with strong storytelling ability.
• Strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
• Collaborative mindset and experience working cross‑functionally with diverse stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with social media platforms.
• Experience using content management systems.
• Knowledge of email marketing software.
• Familiarity with analytics tools for measuring communication impact.
• Media relations skills including press release writing and media pitching.
