Construction Manager (Consultant)

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Construction Manager on a 12‑month consultancy to oversee the implementation of the PINUA housing and community infrastructure projects in Kisumu, Kenya. The role will be based on‑site and will report to the PINUA Project Manager, ensuring that all construction activities meet UN‑Habitat standards and contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all construction works, verifying compliance with contracts, specifications, drawings and the approved programme of works.
• Develop and execute quality management processes, including inspections, material verification, safety monitoring and HSSE compliance.
• Maintain daily site records, produce weekly and monthly technical supervision reports, and manage change‑request documentation.
• Inspect and approve delivered materials, concrete placement, reinforcement steel, and structural steel installations.
• Coordinate with contractors, consultants and the Housing Specialist to issue site instructions, evaluate progress schedules and resolve technical issues.
