About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Coordination and Technical Support Consultant to assist the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) Secretariat. Based in Nairobi, the consultant will support the preparation, coordination, and follow‑up of AMCEN activities, including ministerial sessions, Bureau meetings, and the implementation of decisions.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare an inception report and detailed work plan within the first two weeks.
- Draft technical documents such as briefs, reports, and policy notes.
- Produce meeting documentation, including agendas, summaries, and outcomes.
- Compile monthly progress reports on programme activities.
- Deliver a final report summarizing outputs, recommendations, and lessons learned.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Law, Economics, International Relations, Engineering or related fields.
- Relevant experience in environmental policy, programme coordination, or multilateral processes.
- Ability to work under the direct supervision of the Regional Director for UNEP Africa.
